* Recognizes that spirituality and religion intertwine with each other, but they are not one and the same.
* Provides spiritual counseling in an Inter-faith Ministry for patients and families facing end of life issues.
* Encourages a connection for patients who have identified with a particular faith tradition by contacting the local clergy at the request of the patient or family.
* Does not promote any particular faith tradition, but mutually respects the faith tradition of each patient and family.

Believes education and understanding for all our staff of all faith traditions is crucial to our ability to effectively provide patient care.
* Understands the vital roles that faith and spirit play in the lives of patients and their families, and consider our spiritual care team an integral member of the healthcare team.
* Considers all matters of the spiritual care as private and confidential unless the patient and family request it be disclosed.
When to Request a Spiritual Care
When someone is wrestling with spiritual or religious issues, such as: unresolved grief, lack of faith, inability to pray, dealing with losses in ones life, a sense of being abandoned by God, experiencing a lack of hope or questioning the meaning of life.
When spiritual guidance, support or prayer is desired.
When specific rite or ritual (i.e., communion, baptism, the sacrament of the sick, or anointing, etc.) is desired.
When there is a death or crisis.
When information about community religious groups and/or resources is needed.
When assistance is required with funeral arrangements.
When you have dreams, visions, visitations, and paranormal spiritual experiences and feel a need for affirmation, explanation or normalization.
